What did we want to remember? What were we missing? What didn't we want to go back to?

The Distanced Gatherings began on 26 March 2020, as an attempt to help us cope with the first Covid-19 lockdown in the UK and across the world. We held Gatherings weekly on Zoom, every Thursday at midday UK time. These are records of the conversations, thoughts, and emotions that people were having over the first 10 weeks.

We continue to meet, now on monthly basis. While topics of conversations have changed and increasingly tried to address larger industry and societal issues, we always ask the question about how people’s past week has been. This reminds us of the purpose of these meet-ups, and helps us focus on the fact that we are all, primarily, human, and we have all been through a global tragedy.

<aside> 💡 For every question we asked, there's a record of anonymised responses people typed in the chat after a discussion in pairs or groups. Read the questions, and toggle the arrow next to the date to read in full.

YOUR WEEK

How has your week been?

We like the "new normal" more than the last normal.

What has been your big challenge this week?

The feeling on unproductiveness / stuckness comes in waves - everyone's feeling it at different times.

What has been your high point this week?

More time to read actual books. Noticing the nice things outside. Slowing down and making space.
